KWAL introduces 750ml glass bottle for Caprice Wine in Kenya, expanding packaging formats for the wine market

Kenya Wine Agencies Limited (KWAL) has introduced a 750ml glass bottle for its Caprice Wine range in Kenya, expanding the brand’s packaging portfolio beyond its established one-litre carton pack. The new packaging format, launched in July 2026, is aimed at broadening consumer choice and strengthening the brand’s presence across modern retail, hospitality and premium consumption occasions.

The new range is available in Sweet Red, Sweet White, Dry Red and Dry White variants and is being rolled out initially through retail outlets in Nairobi and Mombasa before wider distribution across Kenya.

The launch represents a shift towards a dual-format strategy, with Caprice Wine now offered in both carton and glass packaging. The 750ml glass bottle features a premium presentation with a long-neck wine bottle, screw-cap closure and pressure-sensitive front and back labels carrying updated brand graphics. The transparent glass packaging enables product visibility while aligning the brand with conventional wine packaging formats commonly used in restaurants, hotels and specialty retail outlets.

The bottle complements the existing one-litre Tetra Pak carton, which continues to serve the convenience and value segment. By retaining both formats, KWAL is providing consumers with packaging options suited to different purchase occasions, consumption preferences and distribution channels rather than replacing the existing carton pack.

For packaging converters and brand owners, the development highlights how packaging format diversification is being used to reposition established beverage brands without altering the product itself. Introducing glass alongside carton enables manufacturers to address multiple market segments while maintaining brand consistency across different packaging materials.

The launch also reflects the continued importance of packaging as a brand differentiation tool in the beverage sector, where container format, label design and pack presentation increasingly influence product positioning, shelf visibility and consumer perception in competitive retail markets.
